New Orleans

For a trip that included driving the length of the Eastern Seaboard, it  went all the way without a hitch until we got back to "Pennsyl-tucky" and it began to rain on weather-beaten curvy roads, and this was on the way back.

I came back from New Orleans with a full videocassette tape, many beads (some car decorations, some cat toys), some gifts for Nessa, much more driving experience with Martin's car, and many, many pictures, only a fraction of which you will see here.

I'll try to make a timeline out of these, but since so much more happened than these pictures I've selected, we might get into a lot of story on this page. We'll see what happens.

On the drive between Norwich and Knoxville, where we stopped to sleep for the night, we took many pictures of Virginia's mountains, and beyond Knoxville there wasn't much after Birmingham, Alabama until New Orleans. Here's the selection from that part of the trip:

After arriving in the city, we went to our hotel room first to drop things off and found our little vacation space was less than perfect. Directly after we tried to find out the ferry schedule but found that next to impossible without actually going to the dock, so Martin bravely drove right into downtown and we toured the French Quarter. We toured this area nearly every day we were there, checking out different places and the ever-changing Bourbon Street most often. I think this will be the main mass of pictures.

We also checked out a few museums which were at the tourist spots directly next to the dock of the ferry we took across the Mississippi many, many times. I will include pictures of the Ferry and the few from the museums in this section:

I saw a few street performers and that's what the videotape I captured was mainly focused on (no pun intended). We also got much scenery of Bourbon Street, driving through the city, and a few trips on the ferry on the same video.

Martin and I found that switching drivers every two hours on the long drives worked out very well. We got along swimmingly, the trip couldn't have been any better. Thank you again, Martin.
