The Arts!

(things that have made our lives more interesting)

What out of all the things you've seen and done could you say there was one thing about it that didn't let you down consistently? Yes, music and movies have the ability to let us down if we throw expectation into our appreciation, but even if that happens, we can always go back to something we do like. This page is an ode to all the entertainment and outflow of my own that I and many others hold dear.

As you might have already seen, I have a very extensive music page. If you haven't seen it yet, I would recommend it. There's probably something on there for anyone, or you can see just how obsessive I truly am with it.

I also have quite a taste for movies. The above is a promotional picture for the movie American Beauty, which I usually site as my favorite. If you haven't seen it, I would highly recommend doing so, especially if you agree that there is no such thing as a non-dysfunctional family. If you have any desire to see my video and DVD collection, you can click here.

Anyone who knows me well knows how much I like a good laugh. If you don't know me, well, take that into account. I consider humor an art and the heck with ya if you don't agree, I'll stick with my opinion. The link above is a parody newspaper that is really funny and completely irreverent. I would recommend it only if you are not easily offended. I also offer up a collection of comics that I have stolen or have been given via e-mail. Check it out.

"Nothing Gold Can Stay"

Nature's first green is gold,

Her hardest hue to hold.

Her early leaf's a flower,

But only so an hour,

Then leaf subsides to leaf,

So Eden sank to grief.

As dawn goes down to day,

Nothing gold can stay.

-Robert Frost

That certain poem has stuck with me since I first read it when I was 12 in a book called "The Outsiders". That is the one of the things I have heard or seen that could apply anytime, any era, any person. I wrote the poem from memory, by the way, no reference material needed. Yes, it's short, but give me some credit. I have also offered up a soon-to-be-updated page of poetry I have written which you can check out here. Other literature I have found interesting or entertaining is a collection that varies too widely to print out on a page, but they include humor, music, Shakespeare, Stephen King, and astronomy information.
